This dont make sense.. do i need a new pc? the card is not sharing irq's.. anyone in the nyc area recommend a bare bones pc to me? 2.0 ghz 512k ram, case??? i need someone to put it together also since im not a techie? i thought my 933mhz pc would handle the graphix settings at high but it doesnt.. also even if i lower the res to 640 i get the same fps.. my agp is only at 2x because its an old pc.. ANy ideas ? i tried the 28.32 and 29.40 drivers still the same.. i even upgraded the via 4 in 1 and still the same.. any clues? anyone help me build a pc and recomment parts? MB MEM CASE CPU?

First of all, the motherboard is trash. VIA Apolo Pro chipsets were downright ugly. They perform poorly and have both PCI and AGP problems. Secondly, you shouldn't be using drivers that new, they aren't stable. I'm sure somebody will chime in with the right driver for your situation.

Could you please post your complete system specs, including the brand and type of mobo you are using? You mentioned you installed the 4 in 1 drivers...so we're assuming you have a VIA board :) As for the 28.32 drivers, they should be quite stable, since they have been since certified and approved by MS.

What settings are you running when you play the game? Anti-Aliasing on?

well i guess i will have to upgrade. how does this system sound to you bare bones?

Case Antec SX1000 w/ Enermax 350W PSU
Motherboard Asus P4S533 DDR mainboard
CPU P4 2.0GHz Retail Box
HSF Retail
RAM 1X512MB Mushkin PC2100 2-2-2

I was offered this for around $800.. is this any good? what is rambus by the way since it doesnt come with it? also dont p4 MB's have onboard NICS?

WEll I don't really think that that's a good deal at all. These are some prices.

ANTEC Server Chasis (Workstation Tower) Model SX1040; Antec Original P4 400 watt Power Supply-Retail - $118
Intel Pentium 4 2.0AGHz 512K Socket 478 Processor 400MHz Processor Bus - Retail - $199
ASUS P4S533 Motherboard for Intel P4 478 DDR - $105
DDRAM 512MB|64X64 PC-2100 MUSHKIN - $128

For a grand total of $550!!!

The case is a bit better than the SX1000. Other than that, I'll just say your wallet would be getting horribly raped. A system shouldn't cost that much more than if you put it together yourself.

Rambus is a type of RAM. PC800 performs about as well as PC2700 DDR, maybe a bit less. PC1066 RDRAM performs about as well as DDR400. (PC3200?)

thanks for the info. but what is the pc 2100 ram then? is it better than the 2700? i think the mb takes both kinds.. sheesh.. which is faster/better? i have no clue.. I see that the price is to expensive.. i wish i knew how to put them together myself. but is this a fast system?

Well PC2100 DDR means that the RAM has 2.1Gb/s of bandwidth. The PC2700 has 2.7GB/s. Obviously better. The PC2700 is $20 more expensive, but it's quite an improvement. 512MB of SAmsung PC2700 is $148. The P4S533 does support PC2700 and that is probably what you want. It's actually not that hard to put a system together. The system would be pretty fast. The mobo is good and your GF4 Ti4200 will scale the CPU very well.

If I were you, I would go to www.newegg.com and look at the
P4 1.8A $167
Asus P4T533-C $161
Chieftec DX-01WD case $39
ENERMAX EG365P-VE(FMA) 350W Power supply $63
and 2 Kingston PC1066 256MB $300

Overclock that to 2.4GHz, and you have a hell of a fast system for $730, using the best memory possible.
