I have a similar build my only problem is if i install all 8 gigs of memory ie use all four slots windows 7 starts running intermittently if i populate any of three of them all is fine its just if all four are populated i get intermitent stalls it runs it stops it runs it stops and when i turn it off it takes forever to shut down. but if only 6 gigs its fine any thoughts on this?

Motherboard
GIGABYTE GA-MA790GPT-UD3H AM3 AMD 790GX

CPU
AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 3.0GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor Model HDX945FBGIBOX

Memory
G.SKILL 2x 4GB (2 x 2GB) Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ52979800 DDR3

Graphics Card
Visiontek Radeon HD 3850

and im pretty sure these mb are designed more for ati graphics rather than nvidia

Few things ... did you set the timings and voltages correctly in the BIOS?

Secondly, are you using the latest BIOS? See if there is a new BIOS out.

Finally, I find that G.SKILL RAM is very poorly manufactured. I have built two systems in the past using G.SKILL RAM. One of them, the RAM was bad out of the box. The second one, the RAM went bad after a month. I now have Patriot and ADATA RAM in those systems, and all is running well.

I remember reading somewhere that if you have 4 sticks of RAM in and notice a performance decrease that the RAM "Might" need a little more voltage for the extra sticks.

Also boot up time has ALOT to do with Hard Drive speed.

Maybe the mobo or processor is defective...

FYI, all motherboards on newegg have alot of 1 star ratings for being defective.

hello all, here is my new system specs......

i have purchased all these things from hariniwas /patna on 12 oct 2010.

1. AMD phenom 2 x4 945 3.0 ghz processor-rs. 7200/-

2. Asus M4A88T-M 880G/SB710 motherboard-rs. 4800/-

3. kingston 2 gb ddr3 1333 ram-rs. 2100/-

4. Dynet 2 gb ddr3 1333 ram-rs. 1800/-

5. XFX ATI RADEON HD4650 1GB graphic card-3950/-

6. Circle Full ATX Cabinet With Power Supply

7. LG double layer dvd writer

8. Samsung B2030 20" LCD monitor

9. samsung 1 tb 5200 rpm hard disk

10. windows 7 ultimate 64 bit os.

but my problem is that....my system boots up slow ,shutdown slow, games are runnig good but programmes starting slowly.i have updated latest bios and all drivers. i m not going with overclocking. both rams are fitted into blue slots. what is the problem ?? give me suggestions and solution.

you are mixing manufacturers of ram which will cause system instability, stick with one stick of ram and the system will run fine

Just built this under a month ago:
Phenom II x6 1090t @ 3.8ghz
HD radeon 6950 @
Asus m4A87TD EVO mobo
4gb Gskill Trident 2000mhz PC16000 ram

Slowest computer in the house, hands down. That is saying alot.
Start up takes about 2 min, another min before i can launch any programs, and another min for them to launch.
Browser freezes just from changing tabs 60% of the time, installing things takes overnight, and even then the installer just might freeze altogether. Computer randomly freezes for as long as 6minutes at a time, maybe even multiple times in a row.
I can run crysis on very high settings+graphical enhancers at 40-60 frames a second (if it loads before i decide to do something else).
I've tried every ram timing, frequency and voltage setting possible.

What the hell is wrong with my computer.

Surprising to find so many with similar problems. I just got a new Phenom II X6 based system a week ago, and the overall response for everything is much slower than my 5 year old Athlon X2 based system.

Phenom II X6 1090T @ 3.7GHz
Asus M5A99X Evo mobo
nVidia GTX550Ti
4GB Kingston DDR3-1333 RAM
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

I earlier had:

Athlon X2 4800+ @ 2.5GHz
Asus M2N-MX mobo
nVidia 8600GT Fatal1ty 256MB (died a year ago, was running onboard ATi 4290 post that)
4GB Transcend DDR2-800 RAM
Windows Vista Ultimate x64

The ratings look good and all, but in simple performance parameters, startup/ surfing on Chrome, hell, even FarmVille on Facebook lags bigtime and even causes a system hang at times. I've taken a screenshot with CPU usage @ 85% and RAM @ 52% with just Winamp and FarmVille running..

Drivers are up to date. The numbers don't make anything seem like it's wrong, but it's got me completely exasperated.. 😡 I even tried installing Windows XP, but I only got "No Hard Drives were detected on the system" (Yes, I have all SATA drives and a USB DVD-RW drive to boot..)

Any suggestions welcome.

All,

I have the same problem with an AMD 1100 and Radeon HD 6950 I built, Great RAM..... Problem is we are looking for AMD CPU's because of the lower pricing and nice looking specs, because of the Radeon card that has to be used in many of the MB's its killing the speed on games especially. Radeon is terrible. I am going to get a new MB that will do Radeon and NVidia with my same AMD 1100 CPU so I can put my SLI NVidia 8800 (Alpha Dog Versions) in and see if it makes a difference. I bought RAGE and it would run smooth but there were big unrendered squares on the ground, updated all drivers and same thing. Even brought the resolution down to 800X600 and same thing. Swapped my MB to an old XFX with Q6600 quad chip and Rage runs fine..........
