Question New processor for a motherboard

I want to upgrade the processor of a desktop. The desktop is Inspiron 580s by Dell. The motherboard is named in the PC as "Dell inc a00".
I also have the serial number of the motherboard, but I don't know if I'm supposed to keep that information private or not.


How can I check which processor is compatible for my motherboard?

Around where are you located? You may be able to find a whole computer around you that's newer for that much, or even free if someone is tossing it.
