i am planing to upgrade my processor .
i have a gt 1030 gpu. but my current processor bottlenecks FIFA 18 i guess.my current processor is intel dual core e5700 3ghz. so please help me

my current spec is :

processor - pentium dual core e5700 3ghz
GPU - NVIDIA GT 1030
RAM - 4GB DDR2
MOTHERBOARD - http://www.mercury-pc.com/product-spec.php?productid=848

SO I IAM PLANNING TO BUY A QUAD CORE PROCESSOR .SOME OF WHICH I AM CONSIDERING ARE :

Intel 2.66 GHz LGA 775 Q6600 Processor

Intel 2.66 GHz LGA 775 Q8400 Processor

ntel 2.50 GHz LGA 775 Q9300 Processor

so which one of these should i buy ? i will play it atmost low setting.
so please someone help me i cant upgrade ram or motherboard for now coause my budget is too low .

Solution

from looking at your motherboard it has a G31 chipset and according to this website the the Q8400 and q9300 are not...
First of all, see if any of the proposed processors are compatible with your motherboard.
Likely they are, but your link does not tell me.

Your E5700 is a dual core with a passmark rating of 1738. That is when both cores are fully loaded. The single thread rating is 1219 which tends to be most important for games. I do not know if fifa 18 is single threaded or not.

The strongest option you listed would be the Q8400 with a rating of 3168 but a slower single thread rating if 1121.
This could be a sideways move if your game is not at least a bit multithreaded.
If you start task manager while playing, you will see activity on both threads.
If that number is something like 60% I am guessing you are single threaded and what you are seeing is just windows spreading out the activity of a single thread across two threads.

Your GT1030 is a relatively weak gaming card.
Try a test.
Lower your resolution and image quality and run your game.
If your fps improves, it is not your processor but your graphics card that is holding you back.

i know bro but for now which one is better .ive seen many videos in youtube with core 2 quad running it smoothly .but iwas wondering that whether my motherboard would support it .

so yoi are telling me that i sholud buy a new gpu ?
this is spec o my motherboard : http://www.mercury-pc.com/product-spec.php?productid=848

I can't tell you if your motherboard will support a quad.
No harm in trying.
A used Q8400 sells for $10 or so on ebay so it is worth a try.
Can't hurt and is likely to do better.
I would try it.
Remember that you need to clean off the old paste and use hew paste when you reinstall the cpu cooler.

Games are either cpu limited or graphics limited.
It would behoove you to verify which is your case.
The test I suggested is a simple one.
By limiting the load on the graphics card, you should see performance improve if graphics is the limiting factor.
If performance remains the same, your cpu is the limiting factor.

mm okay so ill try a new processor cause wile playing nfs payback i reduced the graphics to lowest but there was hardly any increase in perfomance , so i guess ill try a ne processor.
so in your opinion which processor should i go for q6600 .q8400 or 19300 ? because price of these three ar somewhat eqaul.

from looking at your motherboard it has a G31 chipset and according to this website the the Q8400 and q9300 are not supported but the q6600 is

http://www.cpu-upgrade.com/mb-Intel_(chipsets)/G31_Express.html

note this shows what support the chipset on its own has for CPU's. even though you motherboard uses it does not mean the manufacturer has or added support via a BIOS update

EDIT: link fixed

Solution

okay. thanks for your help appreciate it .

Q9300 has essentially the same performance as Q8400.
The post above gives me pause.
The link failed for me, but if the only supported processor is the Q6600, you will get a passmark of 2954/924; a step backward if you can not use all 4 threads effectively.
Q6600 used to be THE thing years ago because it could be overclocked.
You might research that but the bios of your motherboard might not have the needed options.

At this point in time, I think it is time to save up for something more modern.
$220 buys you a 4 thread G5600 rated at 5707/2206, a lga1151 300 series motherboard and a 2 x 4gb kit of ddr4 ram.

sorry about that, link fixed
