I recently traded processors on exact motherboards on different units one was a 2700xp the other was a 1800xp, when i installed the 1800 onto the cpu that was running the 2700 the system wouldnt boot, then i cleared the bios, and had to re-activate windows but after doing so the systems restarts after every boot and is never able to log on and i get a page fault in nonpaged area blue screen message?? can anyone help to get this processor to work in the other computer??

I was getting the same errors on my system, but I have a P4 on an 875 chipset based MB. Turning off the turbo & PAT fixed my problem.

If you have any BIO setting that enhance memory performance you might try turning them off to see if it helps. If that doesn't help, try replacing the memory modules if you have extra SIMS.

whats turbo and pat?? i have a asus a7v8x-x and i will try but i dont think i have those options
PAT is an Intel technology, so don't search this option into your BIOS.

TURBO can be refered as "aggressive" in many BIOS, this option often enable a 1MHz overclock on the FSB...

You may have a too HIGH, Athlon 1800+ are 133MHz FSB chip (133x11.5). Fix your multiplier to 11.5 and your FSB to 133MHz into your BIOS, maybe your CPU can't handle 166MHz FSB.
