It's hard for us to picture a smell... if it really smells that bad then replace it/check it with a PC repair shop. Take it out in the country or something to check it isn't something in your house. Could something have crawled in there? Unlikely but possible.
strange smells are never good but the one your describing doesn't sound particularly ominous either. You can use a PSU tester/take it in to a tech to ensure your unit is up to snuff but beyond that there is not much you can do.
Hi
If it is working ok I wouldn't worry too much as it will be the new components heating up and the coatings will be releasing the smell.
If it is still the same after a week or so then you may need to get it looked at.

Thanks for the reply (and to everyone else as well). As far as I can tell the smell doesn't get any stronger under load. I played Cities: Skylines for 3-4 hours straight yesterday and I at least didn't notice any difference from when it's idle. I've tried looking at Open Hardware Monitor and while I'm a scrub, I can't spot anything out of the ordinary.
Here's a screenshot of stats from when it's idle, in case anyone notice something that's wrong: http://i.imgur.com/W4MkAgv.png
If the smell is strong and is not reducing over time then the safest course of action would be to RMA the PSU as if it fails it could take other components with it.
IF it had been an old power supply then it would have been worth taking a look inside but this being a new one you will not want to invalidate your warranty.
