New RAM isn't working properly

So I just bought a pair of 8gb PNY DDR3 PC3-12800 sticks of RAM. My motherboard is an MSI 760GM-P34(FX). Before this, I was using one stick of 4gb Apotop DDR3 RAM. I was told that having one stick of RAM wasn't good for the computer and I discovered my motherboard could hold 16gb of RAM.

I checked to see if the 8gb PNY's were compatible with my desktop before purchasing and they came back positive. Typically upon startup, my computer will freeze and occasionally loud beeping noises will come from inside. Rarely does it make it to my desktop background and if it does, it'll soon freeze.

Not sure why it's happening, I watched videos on how to install RAM and I made sure the RAM was compatible. If I'm missing something, please let me know. Thanks.

No they didn't come in the same package but they're the same exact model. I went to Best Buy and pulled two from the same rack.

Many do that, often to save a few bucks, but it offers no guarantees they will play nice together. The tolerances are so tight on DRAM you could pull sticks right off the assembly line and they might play, might not. The DRAM makers test sticks to ensure they play, it's also why, say a 4 stick set may cost more then a pair of 2 stick packages - it takes more testing and time to get four sticks together that will all play nice than simply two sticks

So if I bought RAM from the same package, it would work?
