Hi guys,

I just got my new rig built (Asus A8N-E mobo) but have a problem when installing Windows XP. My system has a 250GB harddisk and the system bios shows it correctly. However, when I run the installation, the setup program only see the harddisk has only 131GB.

Any idea?
Cheers,
Alex

have not seen that one in a while, do you have at least SP1? then it should enable 48-bit LBA with a newer version of atapi.sys, and it should also set this

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetServicesatapiParameters]
EnableBigLba=DWORD:1

somtimes you have to set that manually.

your best bet is to take your current disk and create a slipstreamed bootable installer. Makes short work of installing & updating...

Thank you for the reply, doolittle. You are right, I used another Windows CD marked with SP1 and the partition size is correct now!

Cheer,
Alex
