Question New RTX 3080 severely underperforming

Have noticed in most games I am getting roughly half the frame rate as is expected (when comparing to tests online).

The 3080 is completely new and is using all base settings. During games and stress tests the temperature reaches 40~50 degrees. The GPU load will reach close to 100% when gaming.

Please assist.

It looks like there is a problem with the RAM. Is the RAM installed in the correct slots per motherboard instructions for when running 2 sticks? If you download CPU-Z and go to the memory tab, then under channels it should say dual and not single.

A problem with RAM can affect the overall performance of the system.

What is the cpu temperatures when gaming and running the benchmark?

Is this a new install of Windows? You didn’t reuse an install you already had?

Ah good point. Userbenchmark reported it as 2666mhz running at 2666mhz and forgot OP said it was 3200mhz. Odd that it’s being seen as a 2666mhz kit instead of 3200mhz.

The system seems much better but CPU-Z still shows the command rate at 2T

You may have some kind of malware in your system. Scan it with malwarebytes.

Nothing came up from malwarebytes, all clean. It is a one week old PC, so I would doubt that it was infected with malware.

Idle or loaded doesn't matter for RAM stats in CPU-Z.
But you have huuuge performance loss there. Even though it may not be only your problem
Btw with both benchmarks, results you sent with last message, RAM is still 2666 mHz!

Set uncore to 3600 maybe? If it like Ryzen FCLK it likes to be same or multiple of RAM speed...
But i am not an expert with Intel there
Well... memory controller may be it, and uncore is different stuff, so forget about what i just said

Cryptomining running?
LHR mode would cut gpu performance in half - exactly like in those benchmarks.

Check for malware infections. Use malwarebytes.
