just bought a new ryzen 5 5700x for my setup and I had already updated the bios to I think version 5302 to prepair. When in bios it is on the latest version so updating was successful but when using my new cpu the ram light is yellow and my screen is black. I put the old cpu back in and it works fine so im not sure why the new one isn't working. Any help would be much appriciated

Put the old CPU in. Boot to BIOS and reset CMOS. Power down, put in the new CPU and see if it will boot, then go back in and turn on XMP and such as you desire.
I reset the cmos(could tell it reset because the date was changed in bios) and put my new cpu back in but still have the same issue, yellow light and black screen.

I don't specifically see any issue in regard to your BIOS version. The 5700X should have been good from 4801 and up. I don't see any notes for the BIOS that specifically say you have to update to it prior to any later versions.

Do you have any friends or shops around that could use hardware they have on hand to verify the 5700X works for them?

Just tried it with my sisters pc and it didn't boot and the screen stayed black. Does this mean I got a dud?
