Hi guys,

I'm at my wits end on a new build that is having consistent stuttering issues in games. The build is a lightning bolt besides the stuttering and the frames I'm getting are incredible but it's a moot point if it ruins gaming. I've tried everything under the sun to fix this and nothing is working. Wondering if anyone else has experienced this and has found a fix before I go RMA route.

Full Build Specs:
7800X3D
B650 Gigabyte Aorus Elite AX
TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR5 Ram 32GB 6000MHz PC5-48000 CL30 (Also already tried replacing with: G.Skill Flare X5 Series (AMD Expo) 32GB (2 x 16GB) 288-Pin SDRAM DDR5 6000 CL32-38-38-96 1.35V Dual)
EVGA RTX 3080 FTW
Kingston NV2 2TB M.2 2280 NVMe Internal SSD | PCIe 4.0 Gen 4x4 (Tried replacing with: Samsung 980 Pro NVMe Internal SSD | PCIe 4.0 Gen 4x4)
Crosshair RM850x PSU

Things I've tried:

1. All drivers are the latest and greatest for: Chipset, GPU, LAN, Realtek Audio, etc.)
2. Tried memory in XMP (original TEAMGROUP sticks), without XMP, with EXPO (new G.Skill sticks), without EXPO, manually adjusted memory frequency (lowered to 5200), adjusted voltage, and adjusted timings. Memory is in correct A2 & B2 slots.
3. Re-installed Windows (original install was fresh as well)
4. Activated PBO & Curve Optimizer. Also tried it without it on.
5. Changed polling rate on mouse (multiple people recommended this on Reddit...find it hard to believe it could have caused it but I tried it all the same)
6. Changed power settings to high performance
7. Turned off Game Bar/Overlay
8. Flashed BIOS to F7 which is the reported most stable while being relatively up to date
9. Installed latest Windows updates
10. Replacing the above hardware (M.2 & ram)

I'm sure I'm forgetting other things I've tried. I've been at it for 4 days trying to solve this.

I have pulled event viewer logs and it looks like it might be pointing to what's happening. 470 events, but I don't know how to make heads or tails of them. Doesn't look like I can upload on tom's. How can I get these to you guys to maybe decipher what is wrong?

Any help is much appreciated! Thank you!

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

Re-installed Windows (original install was fresh as well)
Did you recreate your bootable installer, then installed the OS in an offline mode, then manually installed all relevant drivers in an elevated command, i.e, Right click installer>Run as Administrator ?

Flashed BIOS to F7 which is the reported most stable while being relatively up to date
Did you clear the CMOS once you'd verified that the BIOS was successfully flashed to the latest version?

As for images/video, you host them on a site akin to Imgur then pass on an URL on this thread for us to see.

8. Flashed BIOS to F7 which is the reported most stable while being relatively up to date

"Relatively", does that mean you've not yet actually tried the very latest version?

Also are you running any 3rd party software in the background?

The memory frequency shouldn't be a problem, in fact for DDR5, 6400 is pretty much the sweet spot, as was 3200 for DDR4. You should always run a Memtest check on a new build to make sure your RAM is error free though.

As Lutfij mentioned, Imgur is a good image hosting site. Or you can always just type a few of the common issues mentioned in the EV results your read.

I did recreate the bootable installer. I did not install the OS in offline mode or install drivers in elevated command. I've never done this in the over 25 years of building PCs. Did something change to make that requirement? Maybe you could help me understand why that might be causing issues for me?

No I did not clear the CMOS after verifying the BIOS was successfully flashed but I've cleared it since then due to a failure to post after messing with infinity fabric (have since turned it back to 2000).

Here is a snapshot of the re-occuring errors including the ones that posted when waking the computer up from sleep just now:

I'm thinking none of these are the cause of my stuttering as I watched and refreshed the log as it was happening in game last night and there wasn't anything there. Thinking this is happening when waking the computer up from sleep or restarting it. All the same would be nice to fix these.

The only way to account for that other than buying a GPU with more VRAM is lowering graphics settings, especially resolution.
Dropped graphics settings and halved my vram usage. Stutters persisted. Finally a breakthrough though. I dropped my ram frequency even lower down to 4800. Stutters are 85% gone. Does this point to a bad board? My RAM is rated for 6k and I've tried two separate sticks from two different manufacturers.

Well, quite frankly, I don't think lowering RAM frequency should fix a problem like this, so I would keep testing a couple more days to make SURE it made the games run smoother.

Was this happening in ALL games, or just some? And do you have anything running in the background while playing? Have you tried disabling startups one at a time then playing after disabling each one to see if it makes a difference? You can also look at the memory performance in task manager to see what processes are using the most RAM.

If you're running two RAM modules in dual channel like most do, make SURE they are in the proper slots, which your MB manual will indicate. I ALWAYS run my RAM on XMP mode at it's full rated speed, but I also always test my RAM after building a new rig with Memtest. You should run at least one full pass, and it's like 13 tests long. There should be zero errors, if you get errors with both brands of RAM though, you may have a defective MB (that's IF both brands on are the MB's QVL - see below).

As far as the RAM you use, MAKE SURE it is listed on the MB's QVL (qualified vendor list) as tested to be compatible and work!!! The MB manufacturer might not RMA for RAM brands they have not certified as compatible!!!

Kingston and Corsair are two RAM brands that work on the majority of MBs.

Replaced the motherboard yesterday with an MSI Tomahawk B650. Fresh Windows 10 install per the instructions above by Lutfij. Stutters persist.

I have the RAM in the proper A2 and B2 channels. I will run memtest and see what I get. Might get a 3rd set of RAM from best buy as they have corsair that is in stock that is QVL and B-DIE.

Is there any chance that my PSU is the issue? Seems that google returns are showing some folks coming to that solution? Right now I've once again formatted and installed a fresh install of Windows 11 this time. We'll see if that does the trick.

I doubt it's the PSU, that unit even comes highly recommended by TPU, which does pretty trustworthy reviews. I used to buy my PSUs based on Jonny GURU reviews, and the author of them now works for the company that made your PSU, which is Corsair, not Crosshair. I don't know where you sourced the negs on that unit, their RM models have been known to be good for some time. You can't believe all the opinions on hardware you see on the net, if anything, read them with caution.

One thing that comes to mind is whether you have by chance checked this PC on another wall outlet where you live just in case it's plugged into one that is faulty? This can sometimes, (but not often) cause problems with PCs. It's more likely to happen in older houses, but not always.
