Indeed. 9100 is most likely the successor to the 990. This might be the Gen 5 part. Terminology matches: 100>90. So it doesn't matter if it's 4 digit.

A simple logic the author fails to understand.

Right around the corner? Lol.

Not always necessary. Just because a trademark has been spotted doesn't guarantee that the product is indeed going to see the light of the day, or even gets released in final retail form.

So you are making an absurd claim here.

Of course, they might get released as well, but it will take time, assuming it is not cancelled/invalidated. But these aren't just right around the corner yet. FYI, the submitted trademarks have not yet been examined by the trademark authority as well, let alone getting approved !

LIVE/APPLICATION/Awaiting Examination:

"The trademark application has been accepted by the Office (has met the minimum filing requirements) and has not yet been assigned to an examiner."

I'm a big fan of the hybrid PCIe revision SSD and just wish this would be a driver for more of them to exist as well as getting us some 2 lane PCIe 5.0 slots. We're probably a long way from PCIe 5.0 chipset connections (let alone more CPU lanes on client platforms), but it would be great to be able to have twice as many drives off the same lanes while maintaining good performance.

I can remember going on a sponsored walk and when I asked if we where near the end I was told "Just around the next corner". Upon arriving at what I thought was the next corner I was told that is not a corner, that is a bend in the path".
Moral never believe someone when they say it is just around the next corner.

I don't care if they call it a Samsung 27½, what matters is, how fast it is, it endurance rating, reliability and how efficient it is.

Samsung makes great ssds, but I wish they offered more capacity. Performance is great for working with larger files, but not when I have to copying them off to the network to free up space.

That's an excellent point. I never stopped to think how far off that actually is.
It was an immediate thought as I had to do a bunch of testing when setting up my server box due to how many SSDs I was trying to work with (boo lane count on 'client' platforms). Even with split lanes under a lot of load off the chipset I was still getting over 1000MB/s on everything. I would expect with just a single drive to get within 10% of whatever the maximum throughput for the drive/slot is rated for.

I have been desperately wanting an 8TB gen 5, hopefully samsung will make one and with high iops. Right now none exist, and for what I do even gen 4 is too slow.
People are starting to wake up and realize 4 mobo M.2 slots isnt enough, gen 4 isnt enough, 8TB isnt enough! I'm looking at getting two 16TB gen 4 for my RAW video storage because thats what raw video requires. For the past few years there has been news that 16TB are soon to arrive, but it seems there is a hold up.
So my os is on a 4TB which stores the scratch disks and games, need 8TB badly and have no more M.2 slots!!
