Just got an sms on my Fidomatic "New rates as of 05/20/04. receive
free text messages, send to CAN/US customers for 15 cents or overseas
for 20 c./msg"

Hey, I just saw the same thing on a Telus phone. Looks like all the
carriers are conspring to jack up prices by 50%.

Let me see, if I use a PDA and send e-mail via GPRS, it costs 3
cents/kb. But if I use Fido SMS, it costs me 15 cents for
substantially less than 1 kb. Pretty clear to see that anyone with an
option will stop using SMS immediately.

Huh? Actually, if your SMS send/receive ratio is 50% like it is with
most people then the price is actually going DOWN for domestic SMS and is
the same for overseas SMS. For people like me who receive far more then they
send this sort of thing is FAR better. Of course, I've been with Rogers
prepaid, which has had free reception since I joined. It's funny how things
move in circles, when SMS was first available for prepaid on Fido it was
also free reception.

Hehe, you have no idea what you're talking about. While your raw numbers
seem to confirm what you are saying SMS has many advantages over GPRS/email.
