New SSD for OS with same HDD

i installed my os and drivers on my ssd and i used my hdd for music, games etc. recently the plastic sata conector holder snapped off 🙁 now i need a new ssd. When i get my new SSD, ill install a new OS on there, will i need to wipe my HDD for it to work with my next ssd?? please help !!!!

SSD: adata sx900 128gb
hdd: 2tb seagate hdd

Your hard drive should still work with the new SSD. Just install the OS on the drive with the hard drive unplugged, then add it in.

Exactly.
While it's not necessary to unplug the HDD it's a very good idea to prevent accidentally wiping any data.

Other:
1) When you attach the HDD again (after Windows is installed) when you reboot there's a chance it will try to boot from the hard drive instead of the SSD.

If so, just boot into the BIOS and change the default Boot Order so the SSD is listed first.

2) In the FUTURE, I recommend using a program like Acronis True Image to make periodic backup Images. The FREE (manual only) version from Seagate is called "DiscWizard".

So after you have everything running again, download and install DiscWizard then make a backup of your SSD to the HDD (full compression). Decide later if you want to buy the full version and automate it to a weekly backup (Main + incremental).

To be clear, is the SSD itself damaged or is it just the 3.5" plastic mounting bracket?

It it's damaged AND it's not under Warranty, then you might wish to consider THESE (one 256GB one is 120GB):

SSD itself is broken, when you plug in the sata cable, the plastic "L" shape is broken off leaving only pins. I only bought it in april so warranty is still on it. I couldnt stand to go 2 weeks without my computer again( RMA'D my power supply).
I'll probably pick up another ssd while mines out for rma, then when my replacement comes back ill have it for Important games an music. :s over all just a waste of my time and unneeded stress :/

i liked the XPG SX900 because its a relatively cheap price for 550mb/s read and 520 mb/s write with 128 gb space, i may get another idk.
