Hey all,

I am trying to install a new SSD on my dell latitude after the factory installed SSD quit working. When I get to the section of the install that involves selecting the drive to install on the new SSD just doesn't show up.

Dell Latitude 5400 laptop
I5 CPU
8gb Ram
SSD WD Black SN770 500 GB

Thanks for taking some time to assist me, I really appreciate your expertise

What was the original drive?
M.2 SATA or NVMe?
The 5400 series takes either in the M.2 slot. We've got hundreds of those in use here at the bank and swap larger drives in on a regular bases (all NVME). Sounds like the new drive isn't fully seated in the slot or is DOA.

OP, does the drive appear in the BIOS listing of devices? If not then it will never appear to the installer.

edit:

it's listed in system information as such M.2 PCIe SSD-0 = 500GB 221247801747
