So I have been out of the game for some years, and by some years I mean the last system I built was an Intel I7 960, or even further back an Intel Pentium 4 800.
My aging I7 needs replacement and while perusing the cyber Monday deals I got caught up and bought a "few" components.

I purchased an Intel I9 12900k
an Asus rog strix z790f motherboard
32gig g skill ddr5 memory
and an Adata 2 TB m.2 drive

Still left to acquire, a suitable cpu cooler, was looking at the Noctua NH-D15 Black, or the Dark Rock Pro 4. Prefer air cooling, I spent enough already so an AIO is not really an option plus I dont plan on overclocking. Yay or Nays or other suitable options would be appreciated.
Also looking for decent case to house it all with room to grown, LED's not a requirement, its sitting under my desk, whose to see the fancy lights other than my cats. Need enough space for an Radeon 6700 (gifted to me by my kid who was fortunate enough to be gifted a 4070TI, tried to get him to give me the 4070 for all I have done for him in his life but NOPE)

What should I expect or be prepared for while building this? Any and all help would be greatly appreciated.

The Noctua NH-D15 is a top of the line cooler, and will outperform most water coolers. The Dark Rock Pro is a step down, but still very capable. If you want an affordable and straightforward case with no unnecessary fluff, the Corsair 4000D is a great option. It has good IO and plenty of room for hiding cables. If it isn't too late, you might want to consider swapping out your SSD. Samsung has always been the king of SSD's, and they aren't much more expensive than other brands. You can get a Samsung 980 Pro 1TB.

For your power supply, only purchase from brands you recognize, and make sure to spend a good amount of money on it. A 750 watt unit will be more than enough for your needs, so I would recommend something like the Corsair RM750e. It's fully modular for a cleaner system and has 80+ Gold efficiency. Your other parts all seem great, so you should be off to the races once you order the rest of your components. Hope this helped, take care.
