Hey!

Been looking for a new system and I think
I am sure about most of the components.
But when it comes to the RAM I would need
some help. The parts I got so far are:

SoundBlaster LIVE! Platinum 5.1
DVD Asus DVD-612
CDRW Plextor 16/10/40A
Miditower InWin A500
CDRW Plextor 16/10/40A
Asus V7700 Ultra
AMD Athlon K7 1200/266 Socket A
HD IBM Deskstar 75GXP 75GB

and for motherboard I thought about a
MK ASUS A7V133 ATX SocketA if I should
go for PC-133 RAM
or a..
MK ASUS A7M266 ATX SocketA if I should
go for the DDR RAM.

But I am not sure wich type of RAM to
get. I guess the DDR is faster, but also
costs alot more money and I wonder if
it's worth the money to get 256MB DRR
or maby get 512 or even som more of
the SDRAM?

And also, I wanna try to get this puter
as less noisy as possible so if anyone
know anything about the box I have choosed
it would be nice with some comments and
also if someone could recomend a good
fan/heatsink that isnt to loud.

Thanks!

In another thread DDR is getting cheap. I guess you can get DDR without much price penalty.

You should deffinetly go the DDR route. You can get the MSI K7T266 for $150 on pricewatch. And if you hurry you can get 256MB stick of PC2100 from Crucail for $103, thats $4 more than the PC133, I think its worth it. I just ordered 2 of em :D But you better hurry both the motherboard I listed and the memory will go fast. But it is your choice where to spend your money.

Who said that DDR was expensive? That's a myth! Go to http://www.crucial.com and see for yourself. :)

Oh, but keep in mind that you need a DDR-enabled motherboard to handle it. Not much of a price difference either, though.
