Hello!

I bought some new parts for my PC but I have trouble booting. First off I bought an i5-7500 cpu which I tried with a Asus H110M-K D3 motherboard and my old HyperX fury ddr3. It booted (fans spinning) but I didn't get a screen with both the onboard graphics and with my card. After contacting the store I was told that the CPU wouldn't work with my 1.5v ram bc the CPU only works with <1.35.

I switched to new motherboard (Asrock fatality gaming k4) and upgraded the ram to G.Skill tridentZ ddr4 2x4 (1.35v). After receiving them today I was excited to start building only to run into the same problem.. this time though it shuts down shortly after booting and then boots a second time and proceeds to run. Again no screen.
Is it possible that somehow the CPU went bad after testing it with the 1.5v ram?

On the side, after switching between the H110M-K D3 and my old system somehow my 3 yo WD green failed. The rest of the old system was still working fine the days previous. Could it be an issue with the power supply? I'm using an CX750 and it's 3yo.

If anyone has an idea please let me know bc it's driving me mad.

Thanks in advance :)

Solution
Hi,
Most probably the board needs a BIOS update to support the Kaby (if Z170).
Option: ordering a BIOS chip on ebay and replacing the board's one.
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't aware that there's other factors you have to think about besides the socket. So the problem is that z170 doesn't support Kaby lake?
