Hey guys,
I bought a new complete pc today , with i3 4170 as its cpu, and I was really disappointed when I used Passmark Performance Test to test its cpu performace, and it performed much lower than expected. While on the site the average score of this cpu is about : 5100, my cpu's score is 3900. I ran the tests a couple of times and made sure the system is not busy and no change.
Any ideas why it could happen?
Any chance the mobo or memory is crippling the cpu?

System Specification:

Windows 7 ultimate 32 bit
CPU: Intel Core i3 4170 3.7Ghz 3MB L3 Cache s1150 - Tray
CPU cooler: Arctic Alpine 11 GT CPU Cooler
Motherboard: Asus H81M-K LGA1150, Intel H81, DDR3 1600, PCI-E, VGA, DVI
Memory: G.Skill Aegis 4GB DDR3 1600Mhz CL11
Graphics "Card": On Board Intel HD Graphics 4400
Hard Disk: Western Digital Caviar Blue WD5000AAKX 500GB SATA III

Anything is possible, but I would start looking in other places first, especially for that much difference. I would download some other free benchmarks, such as ASUS's Realbench, Unigine Heaven and Valley, and 3DMark (Ice Strom to Fire Strike) and tell us what you get.

It may be a combination of things. The memory is certainly holding you back .
You have only 4Gb of higher latency memory. That will have an effect. You have less memory, high latency, and you are running single channel. I have been collecting data over the summer for a science fair project. It's not an i3 4170, but look at the effect memory configuration has on benchmarks. 2 x 4Gb is 'standard'. http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2706290/g3258-memory-overclocking-project-reults.html

1 x 4 is 10% slower than 2 x 4, for a start. Windows 7 may make a difference too. What version are you using?

I'm using Windows 7 Ultimate 32 bit.
Do you think what you've pointed out could explain such a big difference?
No way it's a shitty Mother Board that somehow cripples the CPU?
