I'm new to PC gaming and I need help determining if my build will be able to play the games I want to be able to play.

So I built my first Desktop a few months ago and I held off on buying a graphics card at first because my motherboard had onboard video. I figured I could get by and save up to get a nice graphics card. Well it's getting close to Christmas so I think it's time for me to upgrade and get a little present for myself.

I have been told to get either a GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7970.

This is my build:

CPU- AMD FX-4100 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard- MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory- Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage- Toshiba 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

Thanks I appreciate any help I can get.

Solution
recommended PSU brands are Seasonic, Corsair & XFXi recommend a 550W-650W PSU for either of the GPU's you listed...
the 7970 is the more powerful of the 2

Ok thanks for the help. Do you think I'll be able to run those games with this setup?

absolutely, however depending on your monitor resolution, you may have to adjust graphics setting on some games to achieve optimal FPS.

Ok cool. I've been using my 32" Samsung tv and it's been working great. I'd like to continue to use it rather than going out and buying a new monitor.

So I have another question regarding my build and you helped me out last time and I hoped you might be able to this time. My tv is a 1366x768 resolution.

My Build is:

CPU- AMD FX-4100 3.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
Motherboard- MSI 760GM-P23 (FX) Micro ATX AM3+ Motherboard
Memory- Corsair 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1333 Memory
Storage- Toshiba 500GB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive

I also have a 600w PSU and I've got it all in an ATX mid tower case.

So my question is If I decide to go with a GTX 760 or Radeon HD 7970 etc. will I be able to fit it all into my Case? or am I going to have to settle for a smaller card?

Thanks again for your help I really do appreciate it.

ATX mid tower case should usually be okay as long as there is a free PCIe slot and no other things overlapping. Best way would be to take a photo of the open case and post it here so we can be 100% sure.
