New to thunderbolt interface - looking for help

Hey guys,

I run a small project studio for video and audio work. I'm currently using an outdated USB 2.0 audio interface.

I'm currently running Windows 10 pro on a custom built pc. My motherboard is the MSI X99A pro carbon gaming board, and I do not have a Thunderbolt input on it.

The audio interface I'm looking at is the Focusrite Clarett 8pre, and it only supports thunderbolt connectivity.

I'm not sure what all to be looking for, but I am assuming that there is PCIe card with thunderbolt connection on it. Are there certain ones I should be looking for? I need fast data rate with this interface because I use a lot of VSTI plugins and virtual instruments that can cause latency.

Any help/suggestions are appreciated. Thanks.

IIRC, you'll only be able to use Thunderbolt on motherboards that have the headers for them. Just putting the card in won't do it.

Thanks for the reply. I decided to skip the thunderbolt option anyways, as recommended by my music gear sales rep. Thanks though!
