I've been a Linux user for many years, and have only touched windows on my wife's computer from time to time.

Set up Windows on a desktop of mine, and I've noticed a lot of media I watch seems to have a strange Stereoscopic 3d effect over it? Did I enable something strange on accident?

Here's 2 examples:

Not ALL media is doing this. Only SOME video/gif related media. I do not understand it.

Solution
that's a point I got hardware that sems to work fine under Linux but faIls under windows with its drivers

maybe try the card in your wifes windows computer and see if it does the same

like under Linux things like direct x and what ever is windows proprietary features may not be used and not load the card to the point of its failing

also try with that older card AMD 13.12 driver I found it works the best on my 7850 over the newer ones [for me ] as long as you not using crap win-10 then if so all bets are off

what little notes AMD provides these days...

HD 7950 just on the border line between the current drivers they update for newer features not on your card, and the legacy drivers they don't care about and don't intend to change. every card prior to that one is on legacy, and with AMD bound to release new drivers this year, you soon be stuck with legacy. Its AMD saying its time to upgrade, even if card works fine

that's right like all are getting ''they'' decide what best for you and you now support them instead of them supporting you that's the trend theses days

but still my old 7850 works great for what it is and can be used under XP and vista [the 300 series cant ] I'd near say one of the better card I ever ran ?? also those 69 79 290 cards tend to run hot and may help shorten there life I tend to see more of them get issues over lesser in the series cards [opinion]
