Newb builder installing a hdd

I'm going to build a pc but the hdd is gunna arrive couple days later however i do have a 240gb ssd so can i install ssd and start it up then install hdd later? or do i have to install all in one go? THANKS

Not a problem! Just realize that your SSD will be formatted automatically by the OS and the HD will require that you go to the Disk Manager and format it before use. It will show up in the BIOS, but not in Windows until it is formatted.

Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: The most common way to build out a machine is with an SSD for the OS and application install and an HDD for large amounts of data. So installing Windows with the SSD alone is just fine, because you want your OS install on the SSD.

When the HDD arrives and you attach it, you will have to partition it and format the partition - otherwise it will be a RAW drive and you won't have a drive letter for it.

I'm not going to address how to split your storage and put data on the other drive; that depends on what you want where. In case you don't already know this, adding the HDD won't increase the size of your C: drive, it will make an entirely new drive letter and only things that you put there deliberately will go there.
