Newb with a new gaming rig NEEDS help!

I was wondering if someone could give me some help with optimizing my new PC gaming rig. Basically what I want to know is can I split my games up on this machine to run 2 copies of the same game on 1 PC with dual monitors, ( these are NOT pirated games, as I do not support piracy). I have bought the retail disc of these games from some store or another. The part I want to know is possible or not is can an overpowered desktop be split into 2 desktops each using their own PS3 controller (which I already have up and running perfectly). Specs of my PC can be given at any time upon asking, I just wanted to see if this was even possible.

Yes, you will be able to play DirecX games simultaneously. I tested out CoD4, and it ran perfectly on both workstations at the same time. The only problem you might face is with Steam and other services such as Origin and Uplay. Most of these only allow you to only be signed in on one PC, so you will need to have a second account with the game if you wanted to play on both at the same time.

Are you saying that you would like one pc to run 2 copies of windows simultaneously (running the same game)? That is possible wiht a virtual machine program although I do not know of one. You may need an additional copy of windows.

Thanks for your help. It`s always much appreciated. On a side note, are there any tips/hints you might offer to a new gaming PC enthusiast? Anything at all would most likely help. So far I have my games running at great quality, although I am interested in the advantages of overclocking. I have my PS3 controllers connected and running well (bluetooth included) by using a tutorial with something about Scarlet Productions, or something like that from a video on youtube. Don't know much about it, but it seemed to work right from the start.

If your interested in overclocking you will need to do some reading on the subject as doing it without any knowledge can damage your components.
What are your system specifications including cooling(CPU and case fan configuration)?

Yes, if your (intel) processor has a 'K' at the end it is multiplier unlocked which means you can overclock eg i5-4670k. It is also specific to your motherboard and CPU cooler. There are lots of guides available, but proceed with caution because you can seriously screw things up.

ok here`s my Specs:

Motherboard...... Gigabyte Z87-D3HP
Proccesor........... I5 4670 @ 3.40GHz Quad Core
RAM................... 16G (2x8G) Corsair Ripjaw DDR3
PSU..................... Thermaltake SMART 750W
GPU.................... XFX AMD Radeon R7970 3G GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0
Liquid Cooled.....Intel BXTS13X w/ 1 Blue LED fan and 1 Radiator

This was a pre-built system from the online company: CPU Sloutions. Everything came assembled except the RAM and the Graphics card. Although the computer runs smoothly overall, I do wonder sometimes if my system isn`t being bottlenecked at some points. I mean, I know to expect some time delay, say after quitting high performance games and such, but sometimes just switching between windows can make it seem to lag. I`ve read all the manuals front to back. Even though, admittedly, I don`t understand a lot of what I read. This is actually my brother's computer, I`m just the one who gets stuck working on it if I want to play the games I shelled out for. So of course, I`m stuck, lol. Anyway, what he is wanting to do is get a good overclock going. After that we want to get something like the program ''SoftXpand'' working so we can both play games and not mess with each other, or play together, which ever the situation calls for. As I`ve said before, I have PS3 controllers working perfectly and configuring them to different allocations is not a problem. The problem lies with my extremely limited knowledge of this beast of a machine. (I call it a beast because it`s the most power I`ve personally ever seen in one machine).

What sort of storage do you have? If you put the OS (operating system) on an SSD (solid state drive) you will see much improved performance. BTW, that processor cannot be overclocked....(it doesn't have the 'k')

Oppss, sorry about that, it is the ''K'' version. Just forgot to type that part. Regarding the software I mentioned earlier, the SoftXpand program? I was wondering if you knew of any alternative that would make this possible, or is this my one option?

Yep, I bought SoftXPand 2011 and it works great. I also found a coupon code that chops almost ten bucks off the price. Just Google "softxpand 2011 coupon" and you will be sure to find it.

When you say SoftExpand works great, does this mean you are able to play 2 different copies of the same game at the same time with the one machine? I mean, I know you can do small stuff like web/explorer browsing, but what about gaming? Is it possible or does the DirectX stand in the way?

Thank you SOOOOO much!!!! That was the answer I was looking for. Everything else seems to be going smoothly at the moment. I even decided not to overclock for obvious reasons, lol. But seriously, thank you all, you have been very helpful.
