2 months ago I ordered a logitech mouse from Newegg and was sent 3. I thought about just keeping them but felt bad, so after I opened the box and saw the mistake, I immediately called Newegg and told them they'd accidentally sent me 3 mice. It took over an hour on the phone before I was able to talk to somebody who could help me. They thanked me for my honesty and gave me $20 in store credit as thanks, and then told me that they'd send an RMA label to me. 3 weeks later when the label had not yet arrived and I was getting sick of these unopened mice lying around in my small apartment room, I went online and saw that the RMA label had not even shipped. Its status was "packaging."

At this point I was getting frustrated, but because they'd given me $20 in store credit I figured I'd call again. So after about an hour and a half of being on hold, being told that there was no record of my initial call, etc, I finally reached someone who saw that yes, for some reason the label was still "packaging" after weeks and that they'd look into it and get it sent out.

Well, its now been nearly a month since then, and the RMA label is still listed as packaging, and I have no more patience for afternoons spent on the phone because Newegg screwed up and sent me 2 extra mice. What would you do?

If you dont mind waiting, putting the mice in your closet and see if the rma label ever shows up. if it doesnt, you now have 2 extra mice in case yours breaks.

if you dont want to wait anymore, like PC-4LIFE said, you tried. so i would sell them or give them to a family member or friend

alternative would be to send me one of them 😀

Yeah I wouldn't mind a new mouse either to replace my wireless one XD

Lol I had a similar situation this month with a watch I bought for my wife. They've sent 2 by accident. After few days of calling and explaining everything to different people, at some point i just grabbed email address and said "I have the watch you have lost, here is my address you can send your courier to pick it up to the end of this week. If you fail to do so i will give this watch to homeless as a Christmas gift". Guess what, courier arrived next morning... :)

Selling not a good idea, as they technically do not belong to your and NewEgg could invoice you.

As Ra_V_en says email them, tell them they have a week and after that you will dispose of them as you see fit and they are not authorised to charge you and if they do, you would report it as as a fraudulent transaction.

I'll get in touch with Newegg and let them know that if I don't get the RMA label soon I'll give the mice to friends, but if they can get it to me without wasting any more of my time I'll happily send them back. Thanks all.

Can I be your friend XD

The idea was to make it official. I'm not sure what should be a proper action in such situation from a law stand point, but at least this way you have some kind of prove that you tried to notice them about it. Emails are kept on both your outbox and their inbox, they simply cannot ignore it and if they do then at least your conscience should be out of guilt 😉 You tried to help they didn't want it then f.. 'em

Hi candlejack42,

I'd thank you for your honesty but I'm sure you've heard that enough. If you still haven't received the return label, at this point we'll call it even. You can do with the extra mice as you please considering the length of time they've already been in your possession; as they say, possession is 9/10 of the law. If you need help with anything else, feel free to send us a PM here or e-mail us at wecare@newegg.com.

Thanks,
Dakota (Newegg Support)

Now I'm impressed. Seems good karma works after all.
