[citation][nom]HavoCnMe[/nom]I support newegg, and i still don't like D & H for not looking into the situation and investigating before making snotty remarks like they did, even though they were not at fault. JMO[/citation]

Hold on a second...you support the company that did the actually selling of the bad chips, and you criticizing the company that was wrongly implicated in providing the chips? How does that make sense, sir? And what do you mean by "snotty remarks"? What should D&H have said? "Pretty please, Kyle, with sugar on top, take that libelous story down"? Come on, dude. Any company worth their salt would have don the same thing -- send a cease & desist letter to the news outlet reporting the false information (and I use "news outlet" loosely in regards to HardLibel) and deny any wrongdoing of any kind. Which is what they did. HardLibel should have called D&H to confirm its "insider" tip, and apparently, they never did -- even after getting the C&D letter. That's weak.

I think it was a bit extreme for the customers to come online and post videos all over the internet about the issue. But I think it also was extreme for the distributor to make harsh demands against the consumers. I wouldn't hold newegg responsible for the distributor's arrogance though.

I bet if you dig you find a relationship between D&H and IPEX. Any smart company these days creates a straw company to take the fall when it hits the fan. IPEX INFOTECH INC. is a >10 employee company that, according to Google, pulled its website offline when only D&H was being implicated. IPEX supposedly distributes nationwide with those 10 employees, which we all know is BS. Smart crisis planning by D&H, but the buck probably still stops there.

Thumbs up to Newegg for taking responsibility.

I think the journalists who got it wrong should post a serious apology, if they haven't done so already.

Hell, here's my own apology to D&H for my comment against their legal action threat on the previous news article (which I have deleted after reading this one) - "I'm sorry, D&H!".

Not that they would actually care about some random comment by a reader, but they sure deserve it.

[citation][nom]Gandalf[/nom]I wonder how many customers realized that didn't have the real INTEL processor?[/citation]
More like, how many customers DON'T realize they have fakes?

[citation][nom]Curnel_D[/nom]Newegg is a grey market distro. The primary reason why they can sell their products so low is because of the fact that they buy from them.[/citation]

Newegg grey market? I think that's unlikely. The reason they can sell low is more likely due to the quantity they can turn over. I won't say they are super low, but always fairly competitive.

Wow, you are so full of BS it's unreal. You honestly think that a highly respected, privately held, family-owned distributor from Harrisburg, PA, that's been around for nearly 100 years is going to create a shell company (inside the U.S. of all places, rather than overseas) to ship completely phony chips made of aluminum foil to one of the largest online tech retailers in the market? For what purpose? You're throwing out ridiculous conspiracy theories that have absolutely no basis in either fact or reality. You're still trying to implicate D&H even after they've been completely absolved by NewEgg. Rather than hold NewEgg and IPEX to task, you still are trying to figure out ways to put the blame on D&H. Nice try.

D&H has NOTHING to do with this situation. They are a VERY well respected ethical company. Here is a question. Why did Newegg go outside of the authorized Intel distribution list to obtain Intel parts. Was it not a red flag to source Intel parts in this way?

What you should be looking at is the relationship between Ipex and Newegg and Ipex and ASI.

Thinking I might have a counterfeit chip, I contacted Newegg support. Here is their reply (below). Since this made no sense to me, I followed up with a phone call. I was told that what was shipped was a dummy chip, a display item, that looked liked a processor but had no circuits or pins to connect to the socket. Now this is very different from what the article suggests. I inferred that bogus but functioning chips were sold and could be in use. The Egg insists that the things do not work and if your chip works it is real. Therefore if you have a bogus item your computer does not work and you would know something is wrong. These are not counterfeit any things but a bunch of Dummies.

Newegg is working to compensate those customers who purchased the product.

Conspiracy theory #57: OJ did it, saw him leaving the back loading dock at New Eggs warehouse in NJ with black gloves on. He MUST have pocketed all the chips and replaced them with fakes. Nancy Kerrigan was the get away driver !
