Newegg is pretty pleased with itself for devising this online pre-built PC recommendations tool. We give it a test run and ponder over whether the tool is a genuine time saver or a crafty upselling scheme.

So I picked SOTTR, CP2077, FC6 and Elden ring as the games and 4k as the resolution and they recommend a 3060 as the GPU

I also checked out the 4K resolution option and it recommends PCs costing $1500 or more which carry 3060 and 3060 Ti cards which are not capable of 60FPS. The cheapest PC it says can do 60FPS in Shadow Of The Tomb Raider, for example, the ABS Gladiator PC, has and unnamed Intel B560 motherboard, an unnamed 700w power supply, and an RTX 3070 which is -barely- able to do 60fps per TH's review of the 3070 FE.

I call foul.

I tried Newegg's configurator against the one Corsair offers and the one Corsair offers was the far superior product. They sell you everything but the motherboard, CPU, and GPU. But they make sure that everything works and is compatible and gives you everything you need.
