I just finished assembling a new tower with an i4790k inside it, and my cpu temp program is reporting a cpu temp of 93 c immediately after boot up. I have a thermaltake 3.0 performer cooler on the cpu, so something seems wrong, suggestions?

Make sure you have applied your CPU Heatsink properly. Also make sure that your Heatsink fan is working the way it is suppose to. If not re-apply your thermal paste by putting a pea-sized dot right in the center and apply your heatsink; while screwing do it from opposite to opposite (Top right - Bottom Left) and do it evenly so you know that the paste is spread evenly through the CPU. Also make sure your pumps are working, no leakage and it is moving the liquid properly in the loop :) If not I recommend getting it switched or trying the normal i7 Heatsink... If the i7 heatsink still makes it overheat it is your CPU... You MoBo might be causing the problems if it is a cheap/bad quality one.
