Have You seen performance and compression ratio of 7zip? Can You open compressed archive with double click and drag and drop files from it like with WinRAR? Well...there You go.

I use Windows-native ZIP files functionality. And for backups - I use TAR - which is included with Windows. To encrypt backups - I wrote a simple utility that does password-based encryption and digital signing (using my internal self-signed RSA keys).

I do,

I tried to move to 7zip multiple times since it was launched but I never could. I always go back to WinRAR.

In fact, here in the ME, it's rare to see someone that uses 7zip. It's either WinRAR or to never bother.

Because I have a golden any company, any user, any number of users for life licence 😉

7zip is good, but interface is awful, no excuse for living in Windows v2.0

I obviously updated  automatically using  winget.
winrar supports recovery records, which is imho a very important feature for archives.
