I feel like this is the evolution of VR that we were optimistically looking forward to when the Rift and the Vive launched. I don't have a VR headset, but I'm glad they're still getting attention. At this rate, I'll consider one in the future.

I was hoping we'd skip this step and go straight to low-latency wireless.

Well, at least this is progress.

Everyone wants VR to be like the way it is in science fiction where you slip a discrete HMD over your head and you're brought into a convincing virtual plane of existence. New technologies like VirtualLink connection are the stepping stones that help ensure it will be a reality one day.

As neat as this is and all, VR headsets don't need better cable solutions. They need better cable-LESS solutions. Having the image be prettier and more stable is only going to make the immersion break harder when a cord dangles off your head or wraps around your legs. (The TPLink is a definite improvement, but it suffers from lacking true support as a third-party polution.)
