Well I just read this post again and added some....I have started playing for about one week now...Well you shuld read the thread I posted.

Yeah.. I played on a PVP server.. which is where I went wrong since I couldn't put enough time in. Everyone I grouped with at around lvl 20, which took me about 1 1/2 weeks to reach.. hit lvl 50 when I hit lvl 40.. when I was lvl 44 they were around 55-60. Then it was just.. sit there.. wait for everyone to catch up so you could go on to bigger quests.
My problem was I played a Night Elf Hunter.. My character was good until anything melee got relatively close to me.. and how often is it just one person that comes after you? I'll be fighting and then out of no where someone else comes up and between their special attacks.. no way..

I had a Shaman same level as me.. he killed me while I was out doing a quest and in the middle of a fight. So I came back and killed him twice.. I was screwing around with him and easily killing him.. then he got in close to me, 1 swing/hit and I was dead. He hit me 100 damage over my max HPs. At that point I realized I was in the class and that hunters were really ineffective in the game, since almost everything had ranged attacks and some ability slightly better than a hunter.

I didn't feel like putting in the time to start a new character.. but my brother took over the game and now he plays all the time.

I started out with a paladin... he's level 60 now (been there for a few months, actually). More recently, I started a mage and have been having a lot of fun with him. I played on a normal server... I hate getting ganked on PvP servers.

If you design software that is fool-proof, only a fool will want to use it.

Yeah.. ganking on PVP is horrible.. aside from Rogues being able to kill anything. Many a paladin died from a rogue 5-10 levels lower.. My brother is a rogue and I watched him at lvl 42 kill a lvl 53 Paladin.. both played well, but the rogue can outlast a paladin's skills.

That's what I got sick of.. fighting and a rogue pops up, 5 seconds later you're dead.

I heard mages were horrible at low levels.. when you get the high levels it became powerful and fun.

Problem with hunters was they didn't have the range they should have..

But Starwars.. not impressed by the game.. I just really liked how I could have my big beer belly and run forever.. haha

Well I'm glad you're enjoying the game, like I said I had a lot of fun with it.

How to get rich in SWG:

Save up enough credits from doing missions and selling loot to buy an energy harvestor (windmill) and a couple of small mineral and chemical harvestors (you'll need the energy from the windmill to power the min and chem extractors).

First set up the windmill and save up a couple days worth of power. Then set start mining metals, ore, and fiberlast. Look at the stats and try to mine the stuff with the best numbers. Then take it to the market. Look at the market for whatever you're selling to see what price others are selling the same stuff for and sell at a slightly lower price.

As you accumulate credits build from a couple of windmills and small harvestors to solar collectors and mediums and then to fusion power and the largest harvestors. This building process took me a couple of months without any help or "gifts" from other players. For me there was some satifaction to building from the ground up without any shortcuts. If you go this route you may not have a lot of liquid cash during this time, because a lot of it will be re-invested to buy better harvestors, weapons, armor, buffs, a house, etc.

Once you have a lot of credits it's time to become a one-man vertically integrated operation. 😎 Buy a couple of factories and start looking at stuff to make from all of the raw materials. Almost every piece of armor, weapon, vehicle, etc in the game is buildable. You can either train a crafting skill and make your own schematics, or nicely ask someone to make one for you. You don't need any crafting skills to run a factory, just the raw materials, the factory, and the schematic (for some odd reason most crafters will make a schematic for free). I went for easy stuff that's commonly consumed, like droid batteries, and made a killing.

After 6 months I had all the best gear available on the market, about 8 million credits in the bank, and a house full of hunting trophies. I put in about an hour every couple days to checking up on the harvestors, and every week or two a couple hours to move them all when the spot is depleted and new resources spawn. The rest of the time I was out killing the local wildlife, npcs, and occasionally other players.

BTW, I was a Teras Kasi Master/Commando/Medic.

I hope you enjoy the game.

I have a 60 Mage and I do just fine in PvP. 😎 Mages are great damage dealers once you get to 60. Just have to realize that the game is balanced for group PvP, not 1 vs 1. Priests and Druids kill mages, Shamans PWN mages. For every class there are a couple of classes that you should be able to beat every time, and others that you should run from.

After doing so many Scholomance/LBRS/Strat runs looking for just one more Magister's piece it got old for me (I already have the head, chest, pants, but meh...).

Hope you have fun with the game.

I would....it's really fun!! If you've played KOTOR, and liked it...You would love this!! I'm having a blast with it. 14.95 a month. I would reccomend getting the 3 in 1 game...You get a BARC speeder for free!!! You would want this trust me. $30.00 for the combo.

Since I last posted I've been playing for about 3 hours a day....and only reached Lvl23. Now I'm trying to figure out how to become a jedi. I have like 53 badges now. SOme Rebel faction. I guess you need to find a NPC that teaches Force sensitive skills. I have no idea where these guys are. I managed to get to Novice Swordsman, and Master Marksman....I heaerd some rumors on how to become a Jedi, but seem a long way away. Like mastering skills. (I dont know how many)....but still hacking away.

The Jedi village Aurilia (not to be confused with areolia) is on Dathomir, so you need to be able to survive out there. I recommend Teras Kasi Master combined with a Marksman specialization (Rifleman was good when I played - don't know how it is after the combat rebalance), and some points into Medic so you can heal yourself.

As far as faction my toon was a Colonial in the Rebel army. Just lots and lots of faction missions, but once you're a higher ranking officer you can buy stuff like turrets, rebel bases, and troops, with faction points. Imperials can buy their own AT-ST with faction points, but it's much more fun being rebel and blowing them up. 😎
