Which MOBO do you recommend for the money? It'll be used for a home desktop. Some video editing, digital photo's, games, web surfing etc...

Yes to bothe. They are great boards. If I had to pick, i would take the Asus, because it's cheaper.
If you choose the Abit, be warned that the cpu sensor interface is bent. It will report cpu temps a lot higher than they realy are.
I should point out that Abit support is generally much better than Asus, and while they bothe use top notch components, Abit is a little better lately.
