I have an Asus A7N8X Deluxe mb and have just removed my SB live soundcard
and wish to use the onboard component, please could someone advise me what
are the best drivers and where to get them from? I have installed the 1.16
from asus site, but these appear very old...

Check my FAQ (see my sig).

If you've ever installed the Asus 1.16 drivers you may have issues with
the sound. If you do, let me know in this thread and I'll help you out.

Just uninstall any 1.16 or nVidia platform driver you currently have,
and then install the 5.10s (if you're using XP)

Many thanks Ben. Is that much of an improvement by the way, in terms of
compatibility etc?

Only about an order of magnitude 😛

The 1.1.6 package, is IIRC, somewhere between the nVidia 2.00 and 2.03
releases, i.e., JUST after the advent of the nForce2 platform.

There were many problems with Audio back then (although *I* never
noticed them from 2.03 onwards). Since then there have been massive
improvements in just about every component of the driver in terms of
features, stability and performance.

Why don't you go to the nvidia site?
