As some of you may know, now you can buy separated SLI bridges (instead of having to buy a SLI motherboard).

Now, those "nForce Ultra to SLI" modds sounds pretty interesting, especially if you want to save some money.

I know about the DFI LANParty UT NF4 Ultra-D modd, but sadly, you get a crippled SLI: one of the lanes works at 16x, and the other one at 4x.

If that isnt bad enough, the drivers detect that, and you cant do SLI anymore (unless you use older drivers)

Now, is there any other motherboard that can be modded to fully functioning SLI?

SLI is always crippled, you'll either get 16x and 4x or 8x and 8x.

Boards that give you two 16x slots do so by dedicating half the pathways to the second slot, making them both 8x.

And dual 8x configurations are the only thing SLI drivers support.

Yeah, i already knew about the forceware and the lanes issues, no need to bring them to the discussion.

Anyways, i find out that MSI was goin to make a mobo with unlockeable SLI, but they cancelled the project.

Better yet, save your money and don't get SLI unless you plan on buying two 6800 series cards right away. Just buy a better graphics card from the get go....

If you have the money to burn, then experiment away!
