nice cpu for gaming computer

so i'm on my 3rd build for a friend and he has a budget of 500 and he's a gamer i already have all parts except mobo and cpu the budget all together for both is 150 for mobo and cpu and it is a gaming build i have a good card that i bought a while back selling it to him for chea but i am struggling because i've never used amd cpu before so idk which one is good for gaming

If he can stretch his budget another ~$40 it becomes easy but you can't get a quality cpu AND mobo for $150

Yeah, with that you're getting a really cheap, pretty low quality motherboard and only a quad core CPU. For $40 you can get a 6300 and an M5A97 R2 LE.

I think he can handle the 40 if I have to I can take off one of his extra fans and get 1 tb hard drive instead of 1.5

will i need an aftermarket cooler for that amd processor and its going to be a really tight fit without matx but i can do it no worries thanks for the help

You do not need an aftermarket cooler, but the stock is pretty loud.
