So recently I built a computer here are my specs

Intel Core i5-4440 3.1GHz Quad-Core Processor
Gigabyte GA-B85M-DS3H Micro ATX LGA1150 Motherboard
Western Digital Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive
EVGA GeForce GTX 960 2GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Video Card
Antec Basiq 430W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply
G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 ram

at first it was working fine but then I started getting this error where it says your display adapter has stopped working and recovered. I tried many fixes like editing the registry, clean restore, updating the drivers. none seemed to work but I tried getting one of the older drivers from evga it was working good but then it happened the game froze and the sound looped but it never said your display adapter stopped working and recovered just froze the game. I have heard you could up the voltage to the gpu not sure whether to do that or not.

Thanks so much in advance, this has been very annoying and I might be returning it but wanted to check one more time before I do it

Solution

I haven't overclocked but I've heard underclocking isn't a good idea

It won't harm the card, it will just lessen performance very slightly, just turn the clock speed down by 25/50Mhz and see if it still crashes.

could I do this through the bios

No, you'd have to use something like MSI Afterburner or EVGA Precision, I prefer Afterburner

im downloading it right now sorry for late response

I have been playing for a long time and it seems to be working ill keep you updated If it works thank you soooooooooooo much these has been horrible especially after building a computer for the first time and thinking you messed up. and does underclocking lower quality a bunch or does it not even really effect it

I hope it's fixed it :) 50Mhz would probably, depending on the card take 1/2 fps off, nothing noticeable.

so I thought it was fixed because I played along time nonstop but its back. have any other solutions. and just to make sure after burner is running right do I have to have it on the profile I saved it to because it says all the changes and I applied but I never clicked on the profile even though it was showing the changed settings

You have to click the profile number and then click apply for the changes to apply properly.

whenever I start up afterburner it has the settings I changed but do I still need to click on the profile

Probably not, but try it anyway.

it was working for about 2 hours but It happened again might be getting a new one soon unless you have any other ideas

Are your temps getting high before the crash?

Solution
didn't mean to choose as solution. But the temperatures aren't getting too high around 60 Celsius
