No 1440p res support in games???

I just got a 1440p monitor and was ready to see games looking crisper than ever, while some do some look like garbage.
In Resident Evil 7 and Dishonored DotO, there is no option for 1440p and it automatically has the res changed to like 720p or something much lower, making all the lettering look like trash.
In Dying light though, I can use 1080p or 1440p and they both look excellent.

Is this seriously a trade off you have to make? What resolution should I be using if 1440p is not an option?

Odd, you should be able to set the majority of newer games at 2560x1440P.

You didn't mention what graphics card you are using or cable you are connecting between computer and monitor.

If something is terribly wrong like you are using Windows Compatibility GPU drivers you wouldn't have those higher graphics options for instance.

Older games and console ports also have limited resolution and aspect ratio options.

Using am evga 1080 SC2 and a dp cable

After a couple restarts of the computer, and a few games I am now seeing the 1440p options in all games.
