No access to samsung 840 evo

I bought the ssd from a friend of mine who was using it in a mac. I put the drive into my windows computer, and i do not have any permissions to access the drive. I cannot see storage, properties, anything. The drive does show up in my device manager but not the disk manager, and in the file explorer it only shows me the name of the drive "Q:".

So is windows on it? Or is it blank? If its blank you have to format it in disk management

If its in a mac format then windows wont be able to read it. Unless you install a program that can read it like HFS+

As far as I know, nothing is on the drive. It does not show up in Disk Management.

Does the BIOS detect it?

It recognizes it based on it being connected to a SATA port, but doesn't detect it as a drive. For example, when i go into my boot order, it is not listed, but when i look at my SATA connections it is listed.
