Okay I have recently moved and just set up my computer and now I get no sound from my speakers except if I run the test from playback manager.

I have the correct default set for my sound devices and I can see the audio device should be playing music or whatever, but I get no sound.

I have tried downloaded motherboard latest driver along with some realtek software, but none of this have fixed my issue.

I am running windows 8.1 and have a ASUS Rampage2 motherboard with the Creative supremefx soundcard.

I've found online that it might have something to do with a realtek sound manager, but I don't seem to have that on my PC.

Thanks for any help. 😀

Solution
you tried those?: SoundMAX Audio Driver V6.10.1.6600 for Windows 32bit 7 & V6.10.2.6600 for Windows 64bit 7

found them in the drivers section for your board on the asus site.

The drivers on the creative site aren't recognized and the following is the driver listed on Asus website and i've downloaded and installed them but it isn't working.

"Realtek Audio Driver V6.0.1.7023 for Windows Win8.1 32bit & Win8.1 64bit.(WHQL)"

maybe the board has 2 soundchips. a realtek one and a creative? is there no creative driver when you check on the asus website specifically drivers for this motherboard?
and try the motherboard manual, it should state precisely what soundchips you have.

Solution
so the driver i posted should be the right one.

deinstall the strange realtek drivers. deinstall the soundmx ones. than install the soundmax ones again. plug the cable into the green port on your backio(its just line out and probably has no headphone amp, but it will do for now). go into the configuration utility that i hope came with the drivers.
set it on "2 speakers". go into windows volume control and crank up every controller.
play a mp3 with foobar.

now there is something strange i have with my mobo and theres a very tiny possibility that it applies to you also. if i want to use the front panel headphone connection, i only get sound if i disable the "front panel jack detection" in the configuration utility. so if you stumble across such an option, try it.

Okay well good news, the stereo is working. I still can't get the subs or center speaker to work. This will work for now.

Thanks for the help.

Update, I messed with the audio setting in the sound section and it seems to be all working now.

Thanks again.
