No audio in left ear.

I recently built a built a desktop and everything works flawlessly except I am getting no sound out of my left ear if I plug in head phones. This applies to both the front headphone jack and the rear green audio port directly on the motherboard. The model is a Gigabyte GA-78LMT-USB3.
To add on to this issue, a static noise is present in both ears, but only for the headphone jack. I've tried reconnecting the HD AUDIO into the mobo and tried the AV97 because according to the manual, it supports both.

I have checked the headphones on other devices and they work fine. Where can I check to see if the audio drivers are up to date? I went into device manager and tried to update the driver for headphones and it said it was up to date...
