On certain Cds? That may mean that the format of the music is not accepted
by WMP. You can change that here. If you're on WMP10, Tools>Options click
the File Types tab and check all. Click Apply and OK.

It could be as Byte said, a missing codec, or you may have play only digital
audio in the sound applet of control panel, therefore making all analog
music unavailable.
