A few months ago my laptop (toshiba satellite pro c50) slid off my bed and on its side onto the power cord abd bent. I was having issues getting it to plug in so I had to open it to put the battery plug jack thing in place which sadly required taking out the hard drive. When I did this everything was fine after, but then the issue arised again with the battery not being able to charge, so I did the same thing but now my laptop top is saying check media fail then no bootable device. Is there a way I can fix this from home. I bought the laptop in 2013 so the warrenty has expired and I don't have the money to get it professionally fixed. Also is everything in the hard drive now gone or will I be able to retrieve things from it?
