No connection of HDMI to tv

I have a brand new Acer E11 and I I just bought a new gold HDMI however I get no signal on my TV. Any help

Have you tried to swap the display output on the Acer laptop - This is usually selected by pressing the Fn key and one of the F keys simultaneously. Its explained more in this link: http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2558/~/how-do-i-set-up-the-display-and-audio-for-a-projector,-monitor,-or-television

It should detect the TV, then you can go into the display settings and configure more.

1. Is the TV on the correct input channel?
2. Is the laptop detecting the TV as a second monitor?
