no desktop icon, start menu, only wallpaper and task manager not working

i updated and scanned my computer/system for the antivirus and then suddenly all i left is the blank wallpaper. ctrl+alt+delete wont work, F8 upon startup doesn't work too why and how to fix this?? nothing is showing up on my laptop even i clicked the right click. or is it just the system is hang?

Could be just a temporary "glitch".

Keep the power-on button pressed (usually around 4 seconds) until the laptop shuts down.
Now turn it on again.
The Error Checker may run before Windows starts. That's normal. Let it run.

this problem have been for like 10 hours. when i keep the power-on button pressed it only goes to sleep mode and when i turn it on again it stays the same. i tried to let the battery die itself then on it again but to no avail. it wont be a major problem eh? thanks.
