Hello. I recently formatted both of my hard drives on my custom build pc. I have a 120gb ssd and a 3tb hdd. I had windows installed to my ssd and all the other files were on my hdd. What i wanted to do was completely start fresh on my computer. so i formatted everything and now i am having problems installing windows 7 from the same dvd i used the first time I set up my pc. When it tells me to select the driver to be installed, it says "a required CD/DVD drive is missing. If you have a driver floppy disk, CD, or USB flash drive, please insert it now." "Note: If windows installation media is in the CD/DVD drive, you can safely remove it for this step." If i close this message and then click "rescan" it says "no device drivers were found. Make sure that the installation media contains the correct drivers, and then click OK." I have the CD from when I originally installed windows inserted and now I get this message. What should I do to fix this problem. please any one with any clue as to how this can be resolved please respond. Thank you.

Hi there.

Might be one of these; http://support.microsoft.com/kb/952951

The CD/DVD drive may not be compatible with Windows 7 or Windows Vista
The CD/DVD media may be damaged or dirty
Your CD/DVD drive may be incompatible with the Microsoft AHCI driver (msahci.sys)

I doubt its the compatible with win7/vista problem but could be dirty sensor or might be different Sata port you're using for the cdrom? If you've changed to AHCI mode for the SSD, its possible your cdrom does not support AHCI. If this is the case, will need to use another 3rd party Sata controller if you have one, should have, most boards have like Intel/AMD as your primary and then Realteck/Asmedia being 3rd party etc (refer to manual which ones) and...
I would use UEFI . Up to you you can disable it, but you cant change after you install windows, it wont boot

If you dont want to use it, I think you have to disable UEFI and secureboot in the BIOS, so its on legacy mode

And if you use Rufus you would select MBR for BIOS and UEFI not GPT partition scheme

But you cant change your mind later and change it back to UEFI. If windows is installed

I will et back to you with how it works out tomorrow.
