No diaplay on a new build

I am new here and this is my first thread and don't know if I have chosen the correct thread type, sorry it is the wrong thread and sorry for my bad english. So here is my problem, I have built a new pc with everything new except hard disk, dvd reader/writer, GPU, keyboard and mouse. I have had it assembled at a local store and i refused to buy all the components i already had and fixed them myself, hard disk has windows 8 installed from the previous pc and I was hoping that new cpu would just boot that windows but i have a windows 8.1's dvd just in case. Okay so i connected cpu to the monitor but there was no display and the screen just showed "No display", I have tried checking the Ram, clearing cmos by removing battery for 30min, plugging the vga(my monitor is vga and motherboard only had hdmi) to gpu and then the board(using vga to hdmi connector) but there is still no display. I was hoping i could atleast enter bios without Hdd( if the old windows 8 is the problem) but there is just no display. Do we really need an os to enter bios for the first time? Will i need to format my hdd?(i have tried enterig the windows 8.1 dvd but still no display). What do you do after building up a pc? I have been withput a pc for like 4 months now and I was really excited for this but now it is really breaking my heart.

Gigabyte motherboard(am3+)
4gb ddr3 ram
Zotac nvidia 730 gddr5 2gb gpu
My NEW pc specs-
Amd ryzen 1600x
Msi x370 gaming plus motherboard
8gb×1 gskill trident z Ram
500w cooler master elite psu
500 gb seagate internal hdd
Zotac nvidia 730 gddr5 2gb gpu
Power is coming to motherboard(i can tell by the red light), ram(ram is rgb) and every fan is running.

alexoiu. Off cource with their hdd. And now it won't even shoshow the post screen. Sorry if t isn't the way to reply, couldn't find the reply option.

The pc should POST with or without hdd. The video onboard does not work with that CPU. You have to test with the monitor connected to the graphics card only.
If still no go, try taking the pc to the shop and test it there.

alexoiu yes, the vga is connected to gpu only. The "local" store is not quite local and is quite far. Any other suggestions? Thanks for replying

If the computer was tested in the store with the on-board graphics card (the one built into the motherboard), it is quite possible that the BIOS is setup to start the computer with that gpu enabled. So the problem would be, the drivers etc. are not installed and the computer does not know to use the new gpu as the default option. You should be looking at starting up the computer with hdmi/vga cable plugged into the motherboard. I would even consider taking out the gpu just to see if it changes anything. Perhaps it is a simple issue with the cable from the motherboard. Do you have a tv or any other peripheral that you can use a normal hdmi cable to test it?

K1rito. Seems like it. I will try doing it without gpu using vga to hdmi convertor. Though i don't have any other screen(monitor) to which i cam connect the motherboard to.

I was wondering if the cpu will be able to use a gpu like have display with vga(or hdmi whatever) plugged into it if it has no os?

os should not have any effect. U typically boot into BIOS and then are prompted to put in a cd or something to install the os. nothing should be required. Still no luck?

Got it working by inserting the gpu in another alot wtf? I didn't know that something like that would effect it.
