I bought my new Inspiron 6000 under the Employee Purchase Program/student, teacher program. The only disks sent were for Office SBE. No OS disk, no recovery disk.............the told me that it's all on the system now..........a heck of a lot of good it will do if the computer crashes. The told me that they haven't sent them since August 2004, yet the one I purchased under my business got all the disks..........what's up?

If you give them a call, they will send you one within a few days. I
actually had to do this today for a PC I was servicing.

Assuming you have a burner.
should be under start/programs/dell accessories/create a restore CD, or
something very similar to that in the start menu....

Thanks, I just found out about this group today, so if it has been posted before, it's not showing up in the posts I have here.

I called and after a lot of bullying, they said they could send 1 CD that has everything on it. Wouldn't say what, but this was it.

Cyndi,

Go to the Dell Forums web site and look around. You are not the only one who
didn't your disks. When I requested the Dell Media Experience 3.0, which was
installed on my computer but having trouble launching, the tech support sent
me a total of five wrong disks. Only the Dell Forum could solve the issue.

I went to a call for a bad hard drive two weeks ago for a 4600c (one
of the mini-desktops). Swapped out the drive, inserted the XP CD,
nothing (press F1 to boot, F2 for setup utility). I called Dell
support, we tried removing and inserting cables, still nothing. I
asked for a new XP CD, the tech flatly refused to send me a new CD and
instead sent another hard drive.

Came out the next day, swapped out the good drive with the good drive,
tried to boot CD, nothing. Called Dell tech support, a different tech
went through inserting and removing CD drive cables, hard drive
cables, etc. Still nothing. Then we found & tried the diagnostic CD
and it booted, so it was a bad XP CD (no scratches, either...weird).
This tech finally sent them a new set of CDs for the machine.

Bottom line: service and competency changes from phone tech to phone
tech.

I have sent emails to Dell and to the rep that sold me the machine and have asked for a set of CD's. I want them in case, I don't want to have to call a tech to come out. last night when my son called for help, one of the techs asked him to insert the CD - LOL - had to tell him he got none and the tech was amazed.
