Question No display from GPU ?

Hi there,

2 weeks ago my computer went black screen and stopped detecting my GPU, Windows booted correctly as I could hear the Windows sound.

If I plug my screen in to the motherboard's iGPU port It works correctly, but Windows doesn't detect the GPU on devices and it's also not shown in hidden devices.

I can't install the GPU drivers because it says it doesn't detect any Nvidia GPU.
The GPU doesn't appear in the BIOS either .

Two days before it stopped detecting the GPU I got a blue screen and Windows not booting, which I fixed by reseating the SSD and also reseating the GPU to access the SSD. Right now I'm using the integrated graphics and the computer works fine, I still haven't found the cause of this issue.

I checked the SSD with CrystalDiskInfo 3 days ago, the screen went black again with iGPU and Windows could not boot (stuck loading), fixed with reset.

What I tried:

  • Reinstall Windows
  • Reset CMOS
  • Update Bios,
  • Check Bios GPU boot options
  • Reseat graphic card
  • Reseat each ram slot and tested individually, both boots fine with IGPU
  • Checked monitor and cable
  • Tried old GPU which couldn't detect either but fans spin too.
  • Tried to boot with HDD and with SSD both same result,
  • Uninstalled old drivers with DDU in safe mode,
  • Changed the motherboard to Gigabyte 365 DS3H
  • Checked the SSD with Crystaldiskinfo

It doesn't let me install drivers since it doesn't detect the card.

My PC specs:
i7-9700
b365m pro vh (365 DS3H now)
2x8gb ddr4gb
1x 2tb 990 samsung ssd/1x HDD 1tb
EVGA 600W
2060 ko ultra EVGA/Old GPU 960 strix 2gb - Using HDMI.

I'm thinking it might be the Power supply, I don't think it's the CPU but I don't know, I might try my GPU in another computer to be completely sure it's okay, I'm running out of ideas. Need some help.

Welcome to the forums, newcomer!

EVGA 600W
EVGA is the brand of the unit while 600W is the advertised wattage of the PSU. What is the model of the unit? How old is the PSU in your build?

I'm thinking it might be the Power supply
You might want to source(borrow, not buy) a reliably built PSU that has 650W of power at your entire system's disposal.

Update Bios
For the sake of relevance, what BIOS version did you flash to?

Changed the motherboard to Gigabyte 365 DS3H
Just to add, you will need to reinstall your OS as you've changed the motherboard. Disregard this if the mention of you reinstalling the OS was after the motherboard swap.

Hi there lutfij,

Thanks for your reply, I will give you the exact name of the PSU as soon as I arrive home.
I updated the BIOS of the old MOBO (b365M pro vh) , to the latest version, 7C31v16.
I updated windows with the old Motherboard, Haven't tried with the new one, will try today and come back.

Thanks again.

Hi Lutfig,

Just did a clean install of windows and GPU still not detected anywhere, I can't have any PSU borrowed but I don't mind buying a new one, since the one I have might not be enough If I upgrade my pc anytime.
My current PSU is an EVGA 600W W1 80+ WHITE It's atleast 3+ years old.
Is there anything else I can try to do aside from the PSU change?

Thanks for your time.
