Just bought a new MSI GTX 970 GPU and I have installed it properly. Installed the drivers from the disc and have connected all of the necessary power cables. It lights up and the fans spin but I can't get a display on my monitor. Been looking at forums for hours and can't seem to find a solution.

Specs:

Mobo: MSI B85M Gaming LGA 1150 Micro ATX
CPU: Intel i7-4790K Quad-Core 4.0 GHz
GPU: MSI GTX 970 Gaming 4GB
PSU: LEPA MaxGold 700W 80+ Gold
16GB of RAM

I know I still have a lot of troubleshooting to do but I would rather not have to take the card back. Just need some guidance on what to do. This is also my first build. I upgraded from a ZOTAC GTX 750 1 GB.

Thank you in advance!!!

Edit: I can boot up and still use the on board graphics from my CPU. I have tried multiple cables and still nothing. I am also currently running Windows 7 64-bit.

Was just about to check all that. One of my friends had a similar issue with a different card in his build and he thinks I'm not getting enough power. Would that be the case? If so I just wasted $70 on that LEPA PSU....

That power supply is more than sufficient. Under full load that rig (based on what I see) would use max just under 400w.

Was unable to find the PCIE settings in the BIOS. However, I did find PCI Subsystem settings. Went into the settings and there were 2 options, PCIE Latency timer and PEGO - Gen X. Timer was set to 32 PCI Bus Clocks and the PEGO was set to Auto. When selecting the PEGO I was prompted to select Auto (Default) or Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3. Not really sure what the "Gens" stand for. Not a bunch of information in the user's manual about those settings either.

FINALLY SOLVED MY PROBLEM! Went ahead and did a CMOS reset and switched the on board graphics from IGD to PEG and once booted everything worked fine! Thank you for your help though! It was definitely a BIOS issue!

It seems like the PC was trying to boot from the GPU instead of the CPU.
