No display signal when booting from USB 3.0

Hello all,

I started experimenting with operating systems in the last few days. Bit of a newbie with all of this so please bear with me.

So far, I've tried RemixOS (Android) and Ubuntu 15.1 (Linux), both on bootable USB 3.0 and on a HDD partition. No problems creating the USB/partition etc. But both of them have the same problem - after the initial startup screens, my display goes blank, as though it isn't receiving any input. My standard OS is Win10 and I've had no problems at all with that. I use a standard DVI cable.

Any help would be appreciated because I've wanted to play with other OS for a while but this is really putting me off.

What GPU and do you have a TV or something you can try hooking up a HDMI cable to or something and see if it displays out that ouput, or another DVI output. I assume you get BIOS screens with your DVI.

Hi getochkn,

GPU = ASUS GeForce GTX970. I do get the BIOS screens on my monitor. It seems to cut out at the point the splash screen would appear.

I just tried Ubuntu and it is outputting to the TV through HDMI which makes no sense to me?
